Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Get ready, the deviant look nabs Fashion Rocks:
During the runway part of the show, the look was all about grunge, punk, rockabilly, and goth. Fashion hostess, Daisy Fuentes was clearly holding back her aghast as she "nicely" said things about the outfits the models were sporting. None of the models smiled. Me thinks they're cranky because they haven't eaten in weeks except maybe a handful of TrimSpa, and are desperate for an In and Out burger. Just don't have a margarita before your jaunt to the drive-thru.
Music and fashion are almost like peanut butter and jelly, a combination you can't imagine not together. I'm not that into the drak, scary, grungy look, but at least it's not homogenous, popcorn, slutty, nakedness. Did I say slutty out loud? And, the deviant look is obviously expressive, so I dig that.
The fascinating thing to me about singers and their careers is that they really get to get away with a great deal of looks and styles. It's great when you don't know who you are or you want to be different things. In fact, in order to keep their careers fresh and steady, they almost have to be chameleon like. Take Madonna for example, she's had almost as many "looks" as Imelda has shoes in her closet. Good or bad? It's performance, and that's what these people do for a living, entertain us.
There were some pretty amazing performances throughout the show, but the best number by far was Christina Aguilera's performance of the song "Candyman." This woman sure can blast out a tune. Amazing talent. I really loved the 1940's sailor look she was sporting. She was very sexy and superbly demonstrated that you don't have to be half naked in order for us to get that you are hot.
On a side note, Fashion Rocks 2006 marked the "official" coming out of Denise Richards and Richie Sambora as a couple in love
for us to hate.Heather and Charlie are probably back somewhere in Hollywood lighting candles. Here's Christina singing "Candyman." She rocks!Posted by Stephanie Quilao on Sep 09, 2006 in Skinny commentary & news | Permalink
