Deidre and I have been having a lively comment discussion on the post, "Victoria's Secret fantasy prance." One thing that came up was the whole concept of the skinny models who say in interviews, "Oh, I eat whatever I want. It's not a big deal for me." That line used to irk the hell out of me. Sometimes, it comes off smug like Donald Trump and his sliding scale net worth.
Eileen Ford likes to call these skinny models, naturally gazelle-like beings. Okay, you can have the frame of a gazelle but that doesn't mean you can eat the typical American diet and stay that thin without exercise or bulimia. Call me cynical. As well, when do you ever see a supermodel in ads for food. Heidi Klum did it for McDonald's salad in Germany, and even in those ads you never saw Da Klum chewing on food. It's only the illusion of eating.
I'd like to see Giselle Bundchen sinking her lips into one of those $6 hamburgers.
