Personally, I just cannot bring myself to step on the scale in the
locker room at the gym. Nope! No sirreee! And, I know I'm not alone.
The only place I will get on
a scale is in the privacy of a bathroom or at the doctor's office.
That's it. One of the reason's for my need for privacy is that I weigh
myself completely naked to get the lowest weight possible, and there's
no way I can get completely naked in the locker room. Well, I should say that I know I can do it, it's just that I'd rather have a gust of warm water blasted up my colon to clean out the poop than get nekkid in the locker room. I am not
one of those chicks who feels oneness roaming in her nakedness amongst
her fellow lady kind. For those of you who can, more power to your sense of body confidence.
The scale, is first thing I see when I walk into the locker room at
my gym. It's one of those tall, white, scales with the big round head
and the bright red hands so that anyone standing within 5 feet of the
scale can see what you weigh. Shamefully, yet truthfully, I am one of
those peekers who always tries to discreetly get a look at someone's
weight when they get on the scale at the gym.
I never do the obvious "squinty eye trying to get a gander" look.
No, instead I do one of those, side eye glances where the head is faced
down but the pupils are darting out the edges targeted on those big red
hands. I can't help it. I gotta look just like people in traffic
gawking at a car accident.
My weight is actually the only number I feel real hestitancy to share. I'd rather share my credit score than my weight. Yes, it is vain and shallow, but hey, we all have our things. At least, I'm honest about it.
Could I ever get on a scale at the gym? Yes, and I have when there has been no one in the locker room except me. Usually you can do this at 2pm when everyone else is at work. That's the beauty of working online at home, you can workout at the gym when it's practically empty, and weigh yourself when no one can take a look-see. Will I ever feel comfortable weighing myself at the gym when others are around? Ask me in a couple years.
