Body Shapes: Similar sizes are not all shaped the same

I spent the evening with a couple of friends, one of whom is a lovely woman who we shall call 'L'.
L is actually a size bigger than me on the bottom half. She's quite definitely a pear shape, whereas I'm a bit broader and bustier up top. However, I think we're probably quite similar weights, because we're close in size.
I have a fair amount of tummy fat, so I assumed that her tummy would be similarly jiggly to mine. Imagine my shock when we were getting ready for bed (we had a sleepover) to notice that actually her tummy is quite flat, and her little bit of fat is no way as big as mine.
Why? Surely at about the same size and thus weight we'd have quite similar body shapes? I always assumed, that because she's curvy, like me she's not comfortable with it. I couldn't be more wrong. (more after the jump)
L is naturally like that. And her natural size and shape looks just right, in a way my current size and shape doesn't. Even though she's bigger than me on the bottom, she doesn't look overweight. She has defined cheekbones and collarbones and her arms are normal, rather than big. So some people are naturally a bigger size.I never really believed this before.
Thinking now, it's the same as my friend K. She's not a small lady, she's bigger than me or L, but somehow it sits just right on her.
I'm excited that hopefully one day in the not-too-distant future I'll find my natural weight, whatever that might be, and I won't look overweight at it, I'll look just right.
L is a fantastic role model because she's quite comfortable with her body, she dresses it very well and isn't scared to 'break rules' such as: pear shapes shouldn't wear white jeans. She looks fab, and glowing, and it's not any special diet. It's confidence, and security is her own body.
I hope I can one day have that too.
