Flow came to town this week so I figured all bets were off in the weight loss department. However, for week #11, I did manage to drop .6 pounds and .25 inches for an overall good riddance of 13.2 pounds and 10.75 inches. I didn't lose what I have been averaging, but I still moved forward on the loss column, so I am still making progress. I'm lucky that I didn't go on a buffet tour of the salty/sweet kind cause that is what I had a burning craving for all week long.
After taking a good look at last week's picture, I realized that I can see a significant difference in my face. I'm not as puffy. Also, my back boobs are almost at the point where they don't need their own bra any more. In fact, the last rolls on the side are flattening out in a noticeable way. I'm really thrilled to see the back fat go away!
Status report after the jump.
I'm reverting back to some of my old night time snacking habits. Typically, it has been handful bits of sweet baguette with some peanut butter and jelly, or salty crunchy nibbles like popcorn or some form of crunchy potato-like thing that Whole Foods happens to be promoting that week. I live less than a mile from a Whole Foods, so I buy about 85% of our food there. The comforting thing about buying at WF is knowing that everything there has no artificial ingredients, chemically-sounding ingredients, and a bounty of organics.
The downside though is that it is pricey, and when you're living on a shoestring like me, it gets tough. But, I continue to shop at WF and pay the higher prices because my reasoning is this: one way or another I'm going to pay for my health. I'm either going to pay the grocers so I can eat organic and healthy foods to keep a healthy body or I am going to pay the doctors and the insurance companies because eating all those foods loaded with artificial ingredients, preservatives, and what-not creates constant sickness in my body. I know this because I have experienced both scenarios already, and I'd much rather give my money to the grocers and organic farmers than those %&*#! insurance and pharmaceutical companies.
In the last 5 years, ever since I transitioned to eating more organically and holistically, I have been sick only a handful of times. My immunity system is really robust, and my moods have stabilized. There was a time I was on some serious happy pills. But with changing eating habits and doing more naturopathic and spiritual healing work, I have gotten to a place where I am free of the pills. Honestly, I'm one of those doesn't take any kind of pills made by pharmaceutical companies. I rarely even take Motrin or Advils if I can avoid it.
But just because you eat organically and naturally doesn't mean that you still can't get fat. Whole Foods and Trader Joes is still loaded with foods that can grow your muffin top and buttay. Top that off with not exercising and sitting all day blogging and surfing the Net and you're on your way to a 25 pound weight gain. Hello!
I went to the gym 3 times this week, and went kayaking on Sunday. Matt's tweener niece and nephew were visiting from the East Coast so we took them paddling in two-man kayaks. I enjoyed the paddle even though I got a wee bit sea sick, and on Monday morning my shoulders were totally sore. The fact that I went to the gym at all during Flow week was a miracle. But, I did it, and so glad I did.
I mentioned last week that some really wonderful things have been happening which have helped me in the emotions department, and I can't talk about them yet here on the blog, but soon enough I'll be able to say. I'll just say for now that my motivation to overeat because of feeling depressed or not good enough has diminished significantly. I still have a moment or two cause I'm human and a seasoned overeater, but overall the emotions are steadying out. Life has been pretty darn good lately ;-)
