Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Target uses a realistic size looking woman in Vogue website ad:
I happened to go to the Vogue website the other day, and was blown away to see this Target ad on the homepage featuring a realistic looking model. Not only is this woman "everyday people" looking, she's a woman of color, which you hardly see on the front pages of Vogue.
I could relate to this woman as opposed to the stick figures that normally grace the pages of skinny-topia, Vogue. It was like a miracle of the parting of the Red Sea proportion. Okay, perhaps I exaggerate a wee bit, but holey swiss cheese, I was clapping my hands when I saw this ad placement.
Good for Target! They just earned a bunch of brownie points in my consumerist opinion. And Vogue, I'll give them some kudos even though they are not going to quibble much about a non-skinny when an entity as large as Target Corporation is paying big advertising bucks.
