• 1/3 of popular songs in 2005 referred to substance abuse, drugs & booze. In the break down, 37% of popular country songs,  14% of rock songs, and an OMG 77% of rap songs make some mention of narcotics or liquor. With all that debauchery, I wonder what the stats are for popular songs mentioning: my baby mama, doing the nasty, and screw authority. Remember when they thought Elvis was corrupting the youth? • The Victoria's Secret Holiday catalog hits mailboxes this week, and this reporter's male colleague refers to the VS catalog as "the continuing slutification of America." He adds that he thinks the VS Pink line so obviously wants to get the Tweenie boppers when VS will tell you it's targeting college girls. If so VS, why run ads in YM and Teen Vogue? Go daddy-o!
