The term modelizer was used in Season 1 of Sex and the City, and it means: one who worships or idolizes models. The whole episode was about models, how the girls feel insecure about their bodies when compared to models, and one of Carrie's artist guy friends who only dates models and then videotapes their lovemaking to prove what a studly muffin he is.
Since it is fashion week, and there are models everywhere prancing down the catwalks, I thought it would be a good time to do a countdown of the "Top 10 modelizer music videos" featuring top fashion models who's image keep us clinging to that magical skinny jeans dream, "Once I'm skinny, I'll be pretty, and men will worship me and love me. Life will be perfect." Every day this week we will feature 2 music videos ending on Friday with Number 1. Enjoy!
10 "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel featuring Christie Brinkley
Uptown Girl really sparked the use of supermodels in a music video. Billy Joel was married to Christie at the time, and her career was smoking. The blonde, blue eyed model look was iconicized with Christie, and this video does a good job of showing how men flock and become mesmerized at the site of a model-looking woman. The boy band Westlife did a remake of this song and featured Claudia Schiffer as their Uptown Girl in their music video.
9 "Love Foolosophy" by Jamiroquai featuring Heidi Klum
Das Klum really does seem to have it all not only being one of the top models in the world, she has a hit with Project Runway, a line of clothing, perfume, and now jewelry, as well as 2 kids and one in the bun with super cool husband Seal. Ironically, Heidi has never been in any of Seal's videos, but Seal did sing at the 2005 Victoria Secret Fashion show Heidi cat-walked months after having her second child.
