Honestly, there is no other holiday besides Thanksgiving that is all about food and eating. Yeah, yeah, there's football, and visiting with family and friends, but really, it's a feast of food cornucopia.
Besides joy and pleasure, Thanksgiving is also a day of torture for some. Because food and eating is the theme of the day, the pressure to eat is high. For those of you who are dreading Thanksgiving more than looking forward to it, here are some tips to help you with turkey day.
- Get some exercise in the morning before you eat breakfast. You burn
more calories first thing in the morning, and get your metabolism
pumped up for the day.
- Eat some breakfast. If you eat breakfast, you'll be less likely to be famished and overeat at turkey eating time.
- Turkey is one of the healthiest of the meats. It doesn't have the high fat content that ham or beef has.
- If meat makes you feel heavy, try Tofurkey or add more vegetable dishes to the festivities.
- Everyone deserves one day out of the year where they can live judgment-free. Give your inner judge and jury the day off.
- Spend the whole day focusing on the good things in your life. The more you focus on the positives inyour life, the more you put your mind and wmotions in a good mood.
- Food is bonding. Remember that a great deal of love and care was put in today's food, and that's why dishes taste better than usual. There's more pinches of hearts and kisses in the recipe. Enjoy the love.
- Eat mini meals through the day. Saving all the eats for one big meal will make you feel bloated. If you spread out the munching over the day with 6 mini meals, your tummy will be less full, and your metabolism will perform better.
- Try and have the big meal before 7pm. It will give your body time to digest the food, and burn some calories before bedtime at 10pm-ish.
