Forbes has become famous in my book more for their "lists." People love lists. It's the hierarchy, and fame for being on the top. The most recent Forbes list is "The Web Celeb 25". It's basically a list of who Forbes thinks are the most fascinating, influential people online.
What I don't get is that women buy 52% of all consumer electronics. 9 out of 10 women in the age group of 35-49 influence the purchase of home electronics.Women under 30 outpace their male peers in online usage. 1 in 4 U.S. households are headed by a single mother. With all that purchasing and influencing power, why are there only 4 women in the Forbes Web Celeb 25 list?
Here are the power 4 ladies:
# 1 of all 25 is LonelyGirl15, Jessica Lee Rose, of YouTube fame
# 8 is Amanda Congdon former RocketBoom host and new ABCNews.com Videocaster
I am irked that there are so many talented and high profile women
online, and tons of ladies surfing the net, and yet the representation here is still male dominated. Here are some very influential online women who are missing in my book. Why aren't any of these ladies in this Forbes list?
Gina Trapani - The Editor of Lifehacker another Technorati top 10.
Michelle Malkin - Political blogger, Hot Air videocaster and fellow Filipina (hooray in my book)
Dooce - Of Dooce.com longtime prolific blogger and first to get fired for blogging. It takes enormous discipline to be blogging as long as she has been blogging.
Heather and Jessica - Go Fug Yourself. Bad celebrity fashion was never so much fun.
Update: I stand corrected on why Huffington and Malkin are not on the list. Late night. Info didn't stick. My bad. But still. There should be more women on this Forbes list.
