It's no surprise that "lose weight" is the most common New Year's resolutions. January is prime time for the wight loss industry as almost everyone (practically) decides that this is the year that they are going to be a "new me." A slim, trim, fabulous body is synonymous with "New Me's." But, consider that you don't have to be slimmer in order to be a new you.
So how about this thought? Instead of making a resolution to lose x# of pounds, why not make resolutions that have nothing to do with your body? Give yourself a break for this year. What could it hurt? Focus on something new for a change. Instead of making this year about your body, why not make this the year about things like:
- Forgiveness
- Breaking out of your comfort zone
- Making peace with your imperfections
- Making new friends
- Making your dream a reality
- Leaving dead-end relationships and jobs
- Giving
- Trying new things
- Stop people pleasing, and put your needs first
- Stop feeling guilty for wanting to take some time to be self-focused
By focusing on things that have nothing to with your weight, you just may discover the root causes of your eating issues and why you are larger than you'd like to be. Or, you just may discover new people who think you are beautiful just as your are.
