My random thought on big boobs

On my jaunt over to Post Secret, this post card grabbed me. Its quite telling of our society in a way. I have a girlfriend who got a boob job, and went from a B to a D. She did it because she wanted more curves to her shape, so off she went to the nip/tuckers. She expected guys to notice her more but what she didn't expect was that guys would literally follow her, try and grope her, and basically do whatever they could to get a gander at her boobies.

In some ways, the big boobies are like man kryptonite. The sight of the bodacious ta-tas especially in a bikini top are enough to make most XYers bumbling bafoons. There were times when even I couldn't rip my eyes of my girl friend's chest. It was nothing sexual really, it was just that they were so big compared to mine and I would get lost in the imagination of what it would be like to have bra buddies that gargantuan.

I don't believe a women's boob size though has any bearing on her ability to be alluring to the males of our species. Not every guy is a boob man. I knew a guy in college who preferred the under B set because he hated getting boob slapped during nookie when the girl was on top. That image in my head still cacks me up to this day.

Tyra Banks in her Sports Illustrated polka dot bikini 10 years later

For Black History month, Miss Tyra Banks dusts off her pink polka dot bikini from her historic Sports Illustrated cover shot, and puts it back on again 10 years later. Here's the whole scoop from her Tyra Banks Show website.

I don't know about you all, and maybe I'm just clueless, but how is re-creating your swimsuit cover a celebration of Black history? Yes, Tyra landing on the cover as the first Black Woman to make the cut was a big deal. She paved the way. That's cool.

But, wouldn't it have been a stronger story if she had focused on what her historic cover has done to help other Black women/models, and to break stereotypes? Tyra could have interviewed other people who have become successful and had a chance or break because of her historic achievement. She could have showed us how the magazine industry changed or how Sports Illustrated changed because of her crowning glory.

Why go back to the body except to focus on the fact that she's still pretty after 10 years. We get it Tyra. You're pretty and not fat. You weigh 161 pounds now and was 130-ish back then. You look fine. Show us more of your brains and substance. I know you have it in you.

Six Pack fat burner pills

I saw this banner ad the other day, and the first thing that caught my eye was the lady's six pack. I mean, you don't see six packs like that on women everyday. I'm not totally sold though on the fact that her six pack is completely void of photo retouching, but if it is all real, than good for her. She looks fit with all those hot muscles. Like that touch of hottie aura around her?

However, and this is a BIG however, anyone who has ever tried to get six packs abs knows that it takes a great deal of exercise and healthy nutrition to get that look. You cannot take pills and get that muscular in the waist. Sorry SlimQuick. No fricking way. This is where the ad is misleading. Yes, you need to burn fat so that the muscle can show through, but you have to work hard to get the muscles in the first place. Selling a dream.

Loving our bodies with all its character

A long time ago I saw a tagline in an ad that said, “Scars make better tattoos.” The ad was for some sporting wear company like Adidas or Nike, and their point was that every scar, like a tattoo, comes with an interesting story. In the context of sports, the scar is a badge of honor of how that athlete hurt themselves during training, a race, or a game. The scar also serves a purpose in showing us lessons we have learned, and showing us our experience in life thus building our character. 

Now, not all of us are athletes, but if you look at all the scars on your body, I bet you learned something after getting it. Many of us wish that scar would just go away because it looks ugly. It takes away from our perfect skin and body. It is an eye sore. But, what if you changed your perspective about that scar and looked at it as something that helped you grow as a person, which shows how you overcame an adverse situation like cancer or heart surgery, or how you gave birth and brought another human being into this world.

The way to start loving your body is by starting to appreciate the magnifigance that it is. (continued...)

Girl Scout Cookies are on MySpace

Oh Do-Si-Dos! The Girls Scout Cookies have set up a MySpace page. Yup, it sure feels like Goldilocks has set up shop in Sin City. And by the way, it says the "she" is 90 years old. Let's here it for hip grannies.

But let's be real for a second, if any of the jail bait showed up to one of her Girl Scout meetings in one of the outfits that most of the girls on MySpace don, you know her little vampy self would be sent straight home. If they had their way, I'm guessing the MySpace scene would love to floozy up the proud uniform like Fergie does in her Fergalicious video because it's "hot."

I get that the Girl Scouts want to jump on the viral power of social sites to sell more Thin Mints and Shortbread, but is MySpace really the right place for them cuz you know, MySpace is not the most wholesome and innocent of places, and most are there to hook up. Aren't cookies more about hot girls than actual food items in that place? But hey, everyone likes to snack, and Girl Scout cookies are no doubt one of the best nosh foods around. Perhaps I'm just being a bit pervy and overly judgmental, eh?

Correction: There have been more than 3 Black women on the cover of Vogue

I should know better, and do more research. Thank you to my readers who do better research and pointed out my mistake. My apologies.  I wrote a post about how Jennifer Hudson made history by being only the third Black Woman to make the cover of U.S. Vogue behind Oprah and Halle Berry. I stand corrected, and so should the media places where I saw this story. Jennifer is actually the first Black female singer to make the cover, but there have been many other black women who have paved the way.

Along with Jennifer, Oprah, and Halle the other TV/movie celebrity type includes Shari Belafonte, daughter of Harry Belafonte. There has been an Olympic Gold medalist, Marion Jones, and then a slew of models including:

• Beverly Johnson (In 1974, the first Black woman to ever grace the Vogue cover)
• Peggy Dillard
• Sheila Johnson
• Louise Vyent
• Kara Young
• Karen Alexander
• Naomi Campbell
• Kiara Kabukuru
• Liya Kebede
• Stephanie Roberts in a group cover shot
• Brandi Quinones in a group cover shot

• Iman with a group of models for a special 1999 Millenium cover

With Photo manipulation, you too can be a cover girl

Remember the famous Dove video where we saw just how much photo manipulation can go into the "pretty" images we see in magazines and billboards? Here's another video that shows how photo manipulation transformed this young woman into "Playboy" cover form. See. You can't believe everything you see in the magazines. It's all a pretty illusion.

Diet Coke instead of coffee in the morning?

How about chugging a Diet Coke with a ham & cheese omelette, pancakes, or fruit salad with cottage cheese first thing in the morning? The idea of D.C. with breakfast makes me wince. I had a boos once who used to drink a Coke with a Cinnabon sticky bun for breakfast. I could feel the high fructose corn syrup rush just sitting next to him.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Diet Coke, and am a bit addicted, but Starbucks will always win the battle for the breakfast drink on my table.

Nice try folks. I think I'll save that chilly Diet Coke for lunch, dinner, or afternoon siesta.
