I took yesterday off from blogging to enjoy my birthday. Woo-hoo! I started off the festivities the day before with lunch at Sino at Santana Row with good gal pal Naomi. We had dim sum and fruity cocktails. This is the Lychee Sangria potion I had. I'm such a cheap date, I was getting tipsy after only half the drink.
B-day morning, Matt woke me up with a huge hug in bed and serenaded me with his version of Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday Mr. President" a la Adam Sandler's voice. He exchanged Mr. President with "Mrs. Birthday Girl." OMG! I was laughing hysterically. Matt is quite the comedian.
Matt planned out a day full of surprises. First up was an hour massage followed by a Swedish shower. Yeah, like you, when I first heard Swedish shower the first thing that popped into my head was images of raining meatballs and short-shorts. So, I watch too many American Pie type movies. My masseuse was this tiny woman named Tiffany. Normally, I like massages really deep, so I usually get men masseuses because they can do more pressure, but man o' man, I have to tell you, this small woman kneaded me like chewy dough. I could not believe the pack in her punch. All those knots I have from endless blogging were rolled right out of my neck and shoulders. It was heaven!
Next was lunch at one of my favorites Greens Restaurant in San Francisco. We live about 40 minutes from the city, so it was a nice haul up there. For more details on the birthday lunch at Greens see, my post with pictures here. It was supposed to rain but I asked the sky gods for no rain, and I got my wish. In fact, for a brief moment, blue skies made an appearance. Here's me and Mattie at Greens. Isn't he adorable? I just love this man ;-)
We got back home to rest up before dinner, and I took a terrific deep REM nap. Honestly, as I get older, I get very excited about nappy time. For dinner, I wanted something real simple, so we got slices of New York style pizza at a hole in the wall near our pad. All in all, my birthday was wonderful. All my family and close friends called up with happy wishes. The thing I love about birthdays is that it's the one day of the year where you can honestly say, "It's all about me today" and feel absolutely no guilt. I eat it up every year.
