Vanity sizing Size 0: From 00 to 0

Just out of curiosity, I took a look at some celebrity clothing lines and retailers to see what the measurements were for a U.S. size 0. To my amazement, the difference in waist size ranged by as much as 2". That's a significant difference, but to the designers appealing to the ego of the masses can make a huge difference in payola.

Some retailers are now starting to carry a size 00 which means that there has to be some compelling marketablity for the retailers to add in the size. But really, how small are we going to get? Here's what I found in the land of size 0.

Size 0 with a 25" waist

• Beyonce Knowles House of Dereon
• Jennifer Lopez, J Lo line (No even #s. Size 1 is their smallest with at 25" waist)
• Lucky Brand
• Target Brands (Isaac Mizrahi, Mossimo, Merona, Cherokee, Pro Spirit, C9) (size 0 is a 25.5" waist)
  

Size 0 with a 23"-24" waist

• Victoria's Secret (size 0 is a 23.5" waist)
• The Gap  (size 0 is a 23.25" waist)
• Banana Republic (size 0 is 24" waist)
• Bebe (size 0 is a 24.5" waist)
• Abercrombie & Fitch (size 0 is a 24"-25" waist)
• American Eagle Outfitters (size 0 is a 24.5" waist)
• Gwen Stefani L.A.M.B. (size 0 is a 24.5" waist)
• Kate Moss, Top Shop (size 6 UK is a Size 0 US with a 24.5" or 62.4cm waist)
• Juicy Couture (size 0 is 24.5" waist)
• Guess (size 0/1/2 is a 24" waist)
• Citizens of Humanity (size 0 is a 23" waist.)

Size 00 with a 22"-24" waist

• Abercrombie & Fitch (size 00 is a 23"-24" waist)
• Banana Republic (size 00 is a 23" waist)
• American Eagle Outfitters (size 00 is a 23.5" waist)
• Lucky Brand (size 00 is a size 24" waist)
• Citizens of Humanity (size 00 is a 22" waist. This is the smallest I found.)

Note: Sarah Jessica Parker's new Bitten line does not offer a size 0. Size 2 is the smallest size available.
