Can liposuction and lap band surgery for a 13 year old be considered child abuse?
MeMe Roth, the Ann Coulter of the obesity crusade is calling Brooke Bates' liposuction at 12 and lap band surgery at 13 child abuse. Is she right?
I don't really like MeMe Roth all too much since she said that Jordin Sparks should not have won American Idol because Jordin's obesity is encouraging the slothiness and gluttony of fattiness in our culture, but in this case, I can actually see MeMe's point. I wouldn't call the liposuction at 12 and lap band surgery at 13 child abuse, but I would consider it serious endangerment of the welfare of a child.
A pre-teen just has no business getting severe and potentially life threatening weight loss surgeries at such a young age just so she can be thin and be one of the popular girls in school. How much can you get your kid nip/tucked before child services steps in and says enough? Is there even such a case for a third party to come in and remove a minor from a home where there is abuse of plastic surgery going on? I mean it's not like mom is beating or neglecting her child, but she sure is putting the kid at unnecessary physical risk by neglecting a doctor's advice and going to another country who doesn't have as high standards as the U.S.
I have no doubt that Brooke will be asking for more surgeries like a breast job, nose job, "my eyes are too close together job", or whatever in order to try and fix on the outside something on the inside that clearly needs healing. Brooke's mom doesn't see anything emotionally wrong with her child. Perhaps, that is because there is something going on in how mom sees the world. .
