Pfc. Jesse Spielman will be eligible for parole in 10 years for rape and murder of Iraqi girl
In my opinion, this animal doesn't deserve to see freedom outside prison walls ever again. Pfc. Jesse Spielman was convicted last Friday of rape, conspiracy to commit rape, housebreaking with intent to
rape and four counts of felony murder, and was sentenced to 110 years in a plea agreement for his participation in the rape and murder of a 14 year old Iraqi girl, and the murder of her parents and 5 year old sister. Under his sentence:
"It set the number of years he could serve in prison, regardless of the jury's recommendation. The jury had recommended life with parole, a sentence under which he
would have to wait longer for the possibility of parole. He will be
eligible for parole after 10 years."
Apparently, Spielman knew of the plans ahead of time, and
stood guard while a small group of other U.S. soldiers did the actual raping and
killing. The girl was shot in the head, and then set on fire with kerosene to hide evidence. Her parents and sister were shot.
Spielman's sister, Paige Gerlach, screamed: "I hate the government. You people put him [in Iraq] and now, this happened." My father spent 22 years in the U.S. military, and I have always supported our soldiers, but I don't care what you've done to serve our country, there is no reason for this kind of horrifying behavior. For Heavan's sake, the rape victim was only 14, still a child.
"The brutality and ugliness of war pushed them do it." To that I say, there have been enormous numbers of men who fought for our country in war in worse situations, and never did things like these shameful soldiers. Fighting for our country doesn't mean you get a pass from being savage and barbaric. These animals deserve the death penalty, but that may be too easy a punishment. In prison, well, kiddie rapers and murderers get their own kind of never-ending treatment from fellow prisoners.
