Positive Body Image Alert: "How to Look Good Naked" premieres tonight and it looks good
Oh, it's so on! "How to Look Good Naked" hosted by former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Carson Kressley premieres tonight on the Lifetime channel. Check your local listings.
I got a sneak preview of the first episode of this show, and I have to say it is worth watching because it really gets you thinking about how much your own perception of your body is off from reality. I know my perception of my body is off, but because of all the healing work I've been doing lately, I have become far more forgiving and compassionate. The inner 19-year-old faultfinder has even let up on the self put downs.
I even bought a fire engine red bra/panty set recently, and it really did make me feel sexy. What was a move out of my comfort zone too was that I bought the ensemble for me, and not to impress some guy.I normally wear your standard black or white underwire bra and low cut panty. There really is not much zip in my under garments, but that can easily be changed. I stopped wearing thongs when I gained 25 pounds mostly because I felt I didn't I deserve to wear something so zesty. Sounds silly in print doesn't it? Well, this is how we grow.
The principle of the show is really positive and uplifting in that it's about helping women of all shapes & sizes feel really fantastic about their bodies right now, not 20 or 100 pounds from now, but right now. How many of us can look in a full length mirror, in our underwear, and say with true feeling that you feel fantastic and like your body as it is. It's like asking if mustard will go with peanut butter. Uh-no! Aren't we so rough on ourselves?
Well, that's the point of How to Look Good Naked, helping women break out of our own negative perceptions of our body. I love the principle on focusing on the positives because what you focus on is what you attract.
One tip from Carson, I'll share because I thought it was so fabulous is that when it comes to clothes shopping, the stores and magazines are all about trends. The advice from our Fairy God-stylist is to find clothes that flatter your figure and forget about the trends. It's amazing too by just changing your outfit how you can change the perception of your "size."
Definitely check out the show tonight or TIVO it, and let me know what you think.
