With the New Year, and some new attitude changes (namely mine ;-), you are going to start seeing some changes here at Back in Skinny Jeans starting this week.
First, we have a more vibrant look & feel that was designed with the intent to fit more with my own personal new year's resolution to "Be Uplifting."
Overall, you all will see a change in the content tone. In conjunction with being uplifting, I want Back in Skinny Jeans to be a more positive place to help people find their way to a healthier and happier place in their lives. Looking back at my content over the last six months, I have spent way too much time, knocking down, ranting, or fault finding things related to weight loss, body image, and beauty. I can see now that this was a result from speaking more through my overly critical inner 19-year-old who was un-happy about where "we" were in life. We're in better check now, and we both want to create content that has a purpose of being inspiring. If I do a post making an opinion about something, I will be more conscious of adding "what they could have done to be more helpful" so their is some value add.
Content wise, you will see more original content versus a synopsis of what is going on around the Internet in the news that day. There are so many blogs out there writing the same stuff about what comes out in the news that it gets tired and old. I mean how many times, do you want to see the same story that first came out in Yahoo or TMZ? As well, I will be focusing more on quality of posts versus quantity. I've always done 3 posts per day and that has been more to fill up space. Many of you have expressed that you'd rather see one really good post for the day versus 3 mediocre posts. I agree.
You will start seeing different voices besides my own. I know I have a lovely voice, but it's more fun and uplifting when there are others around. There will be more interviews and opportunities for other people to guest post, so look for the notices. My intent with the guest posts too is to help promote other bloggers and what they are doing. There is some really cool stuff out there, so I want to help "spread the word."
There will also be some new features. Two I will debut this week are "2 Tiny Change Tuesday" and "Your Two Cents." "Two Tiny Change Tuesday" will be a weekly inspiration and discussion about making tiny changes to create a healthier you versus big sweeping changes like "I'm going to go workout 5 days a week" when before you only exercised once a month. I'm talking doing things like using 2 packets of sugar in your coffee instead of 3, or buying a thong instead of another pair of your usual white cotton brief. It's a way to slowly wean off the limiting habits and move towards the "more vibrant you" habits. "Your Two Cents" will simply be an open discussion where I will pose a question for the day, and you can share your two cents.
There's other stuff coming down the pike, but for now, I'll share these changes. As usual, I am open to your insights and suggestions, so please let me know!
