This week's theme for Two Tiny Changes Tuesday is water. If you're like me, one of the things you are trying to change is increasing your water in-take. And believe you me, I can relate as to how tough this water change is. My Inner Resistance Monster jumps on the scene as soon as I add on even one small bottle of Spring Water. He reminds me of how much I hate that constant "gotta pee" feeling. But not to worry, we can find ways to still get the water in.
For those who don't like the taste of plain water, make some fruit flavored ice cubes and toss them into a glass of agua. Making the ice cubes is easy. Take an ice cube tray fill them 1/4 with water (I do this so the fruit flavor is not as potent) and then fill the rest of the way with flavors like fresh lemon, lime, or oranges.
- Add a slight mojito flavor to a glass of water by adding some mint leaves and a half packet of raw sugar which you can grab at the coffee shop.
- Drink your water when you know you have at least an hour of "free" time to go pee. Meaning for example, don't drink a liter bottle 10 minutes before you have to sit in a staff or client meeting at work or before an hour drive to grandma's house. No one likes to pull over just to pee. Sitting with that gotta-pee feeling in a "trapped" scenario is the worst.
- Try a brand of bottled water you've never tried before. I like the taste of Smart Water, and the addition of electrolytes is a bonus. Maybe you'll find a new brand you'll enjoy.
- Put a water bottle on your nightstand by your bed and take some swigs when you first wake up in the morning. I started this habit last year, and I now do this every morning. It's a great way to help revitalize your body after a long night of slumber. My body looks forward now to getting water before anything else.
What I did last week:
- I only exercised twice last week to give my body rest. Now this was a good thing because I've been exercising my body at the gym 4-5 days per week for months. Gotta remember that rest is just as important in health improvement.
- On Valentine's Day, I chose to focus on joy all day long. I would not allow the lack of a sweetie rob me of having a fabulous V-Day. It worked. I had one of the best V-Days ever. I also learned a valuable lesson in that attitude is everything and we have the power to choose our state of being.
