So, how are the tiny changes going? Making any kind of changes is not easy and takes time, but if you keep at it eventually it won't be a chore or an effort because those changes will become integrated into your everyday routines.
As an example, it took me 2 years to wean from Diet Coke as my Inner Resistance Monster loves the D.C. But, when I did, 10 lbs came off much more easily with exercise than in previous times, and my body just feels better. Taking a sip today gives me a headache ironically when 2 years ago I couldn't imagine life without the Diet Coke. Here's some random ideas for tiny changes:
- Try some cayenne pepper on your salad for an extra umph!
- Next time you're at a cafe, get a tea that you don't normally drink, and try drinking it without adding anything like sugar or milk.
- Tell your boss that you appreciated something they did. Boss' need to feel appreciated too. If boss is an a**hole, the compliment will disarm them and could earn you good will points.
- Go bowling with some friends. Most people don't think of bowling as exercise, but hey, you're moving and socializing, so that is a good thing.
- Ladies, pick up a men's magazine and see if you can learn something about the male perspective, and vice versa for the gentlemen. Pick up a woman's magazine and see what you can learn about the female perspective. Mind you, the magazines are often fantasized versions of the male & female point of view, but it's still worth seeing what messages the opposite sex is bombarded with regularly.
Here's what I did last week:
- Instead of throwing the garbage down the shoot, I carried the bag down 4 stories and took it to the dumpster, and then took the stairs back up to my pad. I did this so I could burn a few extra calories that day.
- During my regular Starbucks blogging visits, I only drank tea. No coffee at all this week.
