Here is a good challenge for all of you to do this weekend. Starting right now, this very moment until Monday morning, do not measure one thing. That's right! Go measurement free for at least 48 hours.
That means for the weekend let sit your scale, your tape measure, and your food measuring tools unless you have to cook something for an occasion you already committed to. For workouts this weekend, give the elliptical, treadmill, stairmaster or any machine with a measuring device on it a vacation. For cardio, do something where you just focus on moving and getting your heart pumping like dancing, roller blading, kayaking, or playing Frisbee. This is a free time to just enjoy movement.
If you start getting the jitters, and just have to measure something, go measure how many wonderful things you have in your life. Go measure how much love you feel for your significant other, your kids, your parents, your siblings, your friends etc. Go measure how much you've been blessed with.
Even if you think your life sucks right now, and it's a struggle to feel any warm fuzzies, there is still something positive you can measure even if it's as simple as counting how many blogs make you feel some hope or happiness. Go to I Can Has Cheezeburger, and measure how many times you laugh. I laugh all the time at the blog!
The point of this challenge is to give yourself a break from the measuring, and the measuring up, and to start the process of letting go of all the constant measuring. You are enough, and you don't need numbers to tell you that.
Please share how you did, and what you learned. It will help inspire others!
