Reality check: It's easier to get & stay thin when you're rich
I'm going to do a Chris Rock and say this out loud and point blank, rich people have an easier time being thin because they can buy skinny. That's right, and here's what I'm talking about.
What does it mean when I say you can buy skinny?
With money, you can afford to:
hire a trainer who will make sure you workout 4-5 days a week, and that you work out effectively. With enough money, you can hire elite trainers that train the rich & famous.
go to the best gyms where they have better equipment, better instructors, better resources, and more classes.
pay someone else to plan out your food & exercise regime for you.
buy organic and the freshest healthiest foods. Pre-made healthily cooked foods whether hot or cold are always more expensive than foods that are processed, fast, and soaked in artificial ingredients and preservatives.
hire a personal chef or order food from a personal chef service to cook you healthy foods.
go to detox centers or spas and get your "pipes" cleaned out. It's amazing how much money you have to spend to stay at a place where you're hardly or not even eating.
hire nannies and babysitters to watch your kids so you can go workout for 2-3 hours a day/ 5-6 days a week.
get plastic surgery to suck the fat out, or move the fat from one place to the other.
have your own gym in your house so you can workout 24/7.
buy the best workout clothes and shoes.
If you could afford all that, doesn't it seem likely that getting fit and in your skinny jeans would be much easier? Yeah, you still have to do the work, but if someone guided your workout and worked you hard, and made your food and cleaned up the dishes, as well as kept you focused, wouldn't you be rocking the skinny?
Now, just because you can buy skinny does not immune you from gaining weight or being over weight because we all know that the main reason people struggle with weight issues (barring medical things like thyroid and pituitary issues) are emotional and habit based causes. If you have money and means, there really is no physical barrier for you to live a most healthiest lifestyle, and have people help you be thin.
It takes a village to be celeb thin
The reason I'm bringing this subject up is that it irritates me to no end when I see stories with famous rich people and their amazing weight loss transformations. They try to spin their stories like any of us regular folk can lose weight like them and stay thin like them. Uh, no! Here's the reality...
There is way more behind that, "Oh, I just do Pilates 4 times a
week" fantasy. No one looks like a Ford model and red carpet stunning
just doing Pilates 4 days a week. There's a whole team behind those
thin rich famous people. There's assistants, trainers, chefs, nutritionists, and medical pros. Do you ever hear about these people. Rarely. Why? Because
it's all about illusion. Consumers are more inclined to buy weight loss
fiction than reality. When's the last time you've seen, "Drop 10 pounds
in 3 months."
And, let's not forget too that when it comes to celebs and models,
it's their job to look ideally perfect and beautiful. These people are
paid big bucks to keep the fantasy machine churning. How else are you
and I supposed to continue to aspire, dream, and desire to ideals we
can never achieve but somehow hope we can so we continue to buy stuff?
For example, I'm still waiting for the time when Valerie Bertinelli is
no longer a paid Jenny Craig spokesperson. Let's see if she can keep
her new svelte figure without having to be contractually bound to, or
having all those Jenny folks helping her.
Stop putting the rich & famous on weight loss pedestals
So, the next time you start feeling bad because you just can't be
bikini ready in 60 days like the rich and famous, stop. If you could
afford the resources these rich people have access to, you'd most
likely be at your goal weight lickety split too. Do the best with what you have and
appreciate the fact that you are making realistic changes to living a
healthier life.
And lastly, let's not forget, money may be able to buy skinny, but it also doesn't mean these people are happy either. Skinny = happy only goes so deep or lasts so long. Real happiness resides inside, and you can have that at any time whether you are at your goal weight or not!
