We're all done with our countdown of the Top 10 modelizer music videos, but here are some other modelizer videos that didn't make our top 10 but definitely came in real close:
@"Baby did a bad bad thing" by Chris Isaak featuring Laetitia Casta This video was directed by Herb Ritts, and was made famous as Nicole Kidman's character theme song in the movie Eyes Wide Shut.Voyeurism looks like so much fun.
@"November Rain" by Guns n Roses featuring Stephanie Seymour Having a supermodel girlfriend can sure help a rock band's video. This is every rocker's dream wedding minus the death part. Stephanie also appeared in the video for GNR song "Don't Cry."
@"Please come home for Christmas" by Bon Jovi featuring Cindy Crawford Dear Santa, For Christmas I want a supermodel with a bow on her head under my tree. I've been a good modelizer this year.
It's the end of NY fashion week, and the conclusion of our Top 10 modelizer music videos. People modelize because they want the power, acceptance, and love that beauty can bring, and models, in our society, are an embodiment of that fantasy. It's okay to dream and fantasize, just remember though that your ability to have what you want in life is not dependent on whether you fit someone else's beauty ideal or not.
2"Freedom" by George Michael featuring Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, and Tatjana Patitz In their supermodel hey day, these ladies didn't get out of bed for less than $10,000. The word supermodel became famous because of this group, and George got them all together in one room, a modelizer's drool dream come true. George followed up Freedom with another model fest video, "Too Funky."
1"Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak featuring Helena Christensen MTV has hailed Wicked Game as the "Sexiest Video of all time." What a dubious honor, and we think so too. Helena was an unknown at the time, but this video put her on the map. It also helped to have the genius fashion and celeb photog Herb Ritts direct this exquisite piece of modelizer heaven. And, let's not forget Chris Isaak with that sultry and dreamy voice of his. Dee-lish! Wicked Game is the perfect ending to this wicked modelizer countdown.
We're getting closer to the # 1 hit of the "Top 10 modelizer music videos." Delight in modelizer heaven if you dream of pole dancing or kinky sex.
4"I just don't know what to do with myself" by White Stripes featuring Kate Moss We're not too thrilled with Kate Moss getting busted on video with blow up her nose, but nonetheless wouldn't every modelizer just love to have a supermodel pole dance in her scivies in their living room. This White Stripes video, consequently, doesn't even have the band in it, and it was directed by Sophia Coppola of Lost in Translation fame. See what beauty can get you.
3"Erotica" by Madonna with Naomi Campbell and Isabella Rossellini "Hello. My name is Dita." Can't forget Madonna's foray into sex and bondage with her book Sex and the album Erotica? My Catholic mother was all in a tizzy. Madonna knows that sex fantasies will always somehow include models, and kinkiness. We're all so repressed remember. But personally, Vanilla Ice would more likely show up in my nightmares than fantasies. Nonetheless, Erotica is still one of those favorites that makes you wanna (use your imagination.)
In conjunction with fashion week, we are doing a countdown of the "Top 10 modelizer music videos". The next two modelizer clips are:
6"Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban featuring Niki Taylor Yes, Keith Urban has been living many a man's fantasy. He's dated supermodel Niki Taylor, and now he's married to Nicole Kidman. In this #1 Country hit, the beautiful people are cavorting around the desert canyons. When you look like an angel, how can that hot guy not love somebody like you.
5"Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne featuring Rachel Hunter Just because you're a mom doesn't mean that you can't be the MILF of your kids friend's fantasies. For the older crew, this video will make you smile all over again from your days at Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It's both pervy and hot at the same time to think that the puberty crowd has horny visions of you dancing on a pole in the kitchen.
Next up in this weeks "Top 10 modelizer music videos" countdown:
8"Again" by Lenny Kravitz featuring Teresa Lourenco and Gina Gershon Lenny Kravitz is symbiatic with the fashion world, and so it's no coincidence that his videos are frequented with fashionistas. This video story has that classic beautiful yet poor girl (Teresa Lourenco), working in a diner, who one day catches the eye of hot famous rich guy, who has wondered where she has been his whole life. Rich guy is disilluioned with his current hot rich girlfriend (Gina Gershon). Of course, hot guy dumps rich girlfriend for poor yet stunning diner girl.
7"I'm lovin' it" by Justin Timberlake featuring Lindsay Frimodt This song you recognize more as the McDonald's hamburger theme. Of course, don't eat at the Golden Arches for 30 days or you'll get Supersize Me like Spurlock. Lindsay Frimodt has pranced around the Victoria's Secret playground quite a bit. In this video, Lindsay has Justin following her around like a starved puppy because you know, men will do ridiculous things for hot chicks.
The term modelizer was used in Season 1 of Sex and the City, and it means: one who worships or idolizes models. The whole episode was about models, how the girls feel insecure about their bodies when compared to models, and one of Carrie's artist guy friends who only dates models and then videotapes their lovemaking to prove what a studly muffin he is.
Since it is fashion week, and there are models everywhere prancing down the catwalks, I thought it would be a good time to do a countdown of the "Top 10 modelizer music videos" featuring top fashion models who's image keep us clinging to that magical skinny jeans dream, "Once I'm skinny, I'll be pretty, and men will worship me and love me. Life will be perfect." Every day this week we will feature 2 music videos ending on Friday with Number 1. Enjoy!
10"Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel featuring Christie Brinkley Uptown Girl really sparked the use of supermodels in a music video. Billy Joel was married to Christie at the time, and her career was smoking. The blonde, blue eyed model look was iconicized with Christie, and this video does a good job of showing how men flock and become mesmerized at the site of a model-looking woman. The boy band Westlife did a remake of this song and featured Claudia Schiffer as their Uptown Girl in their music video.
9"Love Foolosophy" by Jamiroquai featuring Heidi Klum Das Klum really does seem to have it all not only being one of the top models in the world, she has a hit with Project Runway, a line of clothing, perfume, and now jewelry, as well as 2 kids and one in the bun with super cool husband Seal. Ironically, Heidi has never been in any of Seal's videos, but Seal did sing at the 2005 Victoria Secret Fashion show Heidi cat-walked months after having her second child.
